Course Description

Clinicians are often in the position of educating and advising caregivers and need the skills to do so. Parent involvement can increase the benefits of therapy and ensure that children are receiving the help that they need, both at home and at school.

In this series, we will learn the skills we need to foster parent engagement and increase the overall well-being of our client. In this episode, we’ll explore simple and effective strategies to aid parents in promoting independence, self-efficacy and personal agency in their children.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

1. Analyze the concept of decision-making and its benefits to children. 
2. Demonstrate the importance of personal agency and self-efficacy.
3. Identify ways to allow children to make good choices.
4. Identify methods to allow for healthy attitudes about decision making.

• 0-15 min (15 minutes) Overview: Analyze the concept of decision-making and its benefits to children
