TalkTools® Straw #3

TalkTools Straw #3

TalkTools Straw #3

Straw #3 is part of the TalkTools Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) Straw Drinking Hierarchy, a sequenced eight-step system that progressively increases the effort required to draw liquid through the straw. This intermediate-level straw builds the lip rounding, tongue retraction, and jaw grading skills needed for functional straw drinking and speech development.

Therapy Goals

  • Develop lip protrusion and rounding needed for straw drinking and speech
  • Strengthen tongue retraction to replace compensatory suckle patterns
  • Build jaw grading and jaw stability for oral-motor control
  • Progress the client systematically through increasing levels of straw-drinking resistance
  • Support the oral-motor prerequisites for speech sound production
  • Part of an 8-step validated hierarchy that enables measurable clinical progression
  • Increases resistance gradually, ensuring client success at each level before advancing
  • Targets multiple oral structures simultaneously: lips, tongue, and jaw
  • Compatible with the TalkTools Straw Cups for spill-resistant practice
  • Lightweight, portable design suitable for clinic and home use
  • Children and adults learning or relearning functional straw drinking
  • Clients with hypotonia, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, or autism spectrum disorder
  • Individuals with compensatory oral-motor patterns such as suckle drinking
  • Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and occupational therapists (OTs) using OPT programs
  • Feeding therapists in early intervention, school-based, or clinical settings
  • 1 x Straw #3
  • Lip Block: sold separately
