TalkTools® Itsy™ Spoon

TalkTools® Itsy™ Spoon

The TalkTools® Itsy™ Spoon includes two ergonomically designed silicone spoons, one textured and one smooth, developed by SLP-OT teams to support every stage of the self-feeding journey. Part of the Itsy™ Collection inspired by TalkTools® founder Sara Rosenfeld Johnson, this spoon set is designed for children who may have challenges with transitioning to self-feeding, including those with sensory processing, neurological, physical, or developmental differences.

Therapy Goals

  • Support every stage of the self-feeding journey with purpose-built spoon options
  • Provide sensory input and food placement support through the textured spoon
  • Refine control and portion awareness using the smooth spoon
  • Promote safer self-feeding with spoon bowls designed to reduce oral spillage
  • Encourage independent grasping and arm-to-wrist rotation through ergonomic handles
  • Two-spoon system addresses different stages of self-feeding: textured for sensory input and food placement, smooth for refining control and portion awareness
  • Textured spoon bowl provides added proprioceptive input and helps hold food in place during scooping
  • Sloped textured bowl safely channels food into the mouth, reducing oral spillage
  • Smooth spoon's shallow bowl limits portion size and encourages safe, deliberate self-feeding
  • Symmetrical, bulb-shaped handle on the textured spoon is proportionally designed for independent grasping by early eaters
  • Curved, bulb-shaped handle on the smooth spoon promotes grip control and supports arm-to-wrist rotation
  • Guard flange elevates the bowl above the eating surface, keeping it clean and preventing the spoon from rolling
  • Flexible yet sturdy silicone bowls allow safer contact with gums and early teeth
  • Made from LFGB Platinum grade silicone exceeding FDA standards
  • Infants and toddlers beginning baby-led weaning and self-feeding development
  • Children with sensory processing disorders, oral motor difficulties, or feeding challenges
